Dr. Christie Rinck is an Instructor who holds a D.M.A. in Music Theory & Composition from the University of Miami. She also serves as the Undergraduate Director and the Internship Director for Humanities & Cultural Studies. Dr. Rinck’s current research focuses on music as personal identity and on building student-community partnerships from a feminist perspective. Her book, Audience as Composer, explores efforts to revitalize the concept of music as a group activity or process by utilizing technology to make the theoretical aspects of music more accessible and focuses on questions of identity related to sense of place or belonging, combinations of nationalism and ethnicity, and agency associated with gender and sexuality.
Dr. Rinck teaches HUM 1020 “Introduction to Humanities” and various courses on music and sexuality.
