Awards

Since 1999, the Department of Humanities and Cultural Studies has awarded deserving undergraduate students with two scholarships: The Robertson-Harkness Scholarship and the Legacy Scholarship. The Robertson-Harkness Scholarship, named after two long-time American Studies faculty, is given to students majoring in American Studies; this award has been given to 28 students since it was founded. The Legacy Scholarship is awarded to students majoring in Humanities, and has been awarded to 23 students. Faculty consider academic achievement and service to the department when selecting the recipients at their annual undergraduate program review.

In 2011, HCS Undergraduate Director, Aristoula Mandelos, established the Nikolaos Mandelos Memorial Scholarship in Humanities. This scholarship, created as a tribute to her father, will be awarded to one student each year who has demonstrated academic excellence.
